Make Cheap International Phone Calls – Use An Over-ride Telecom Provider

If you want to make cheap phone calls nationally or internationally, then there’s no need to change your existing telecom service, or your phone number. Instead, make your phone calls by using an ‘over-ride’ telecom provider. Put simply, this means dialling a special access number prior to making your call.

What is an Over-ride Provider and How Do You Use One?

An over-ride provider is a telecommunications company that offers cheap call rates. These companies provide telephone numbers (access numbers) to enable you to access their network.

In many cases you don’t even have to set up an account, and they’re so easy to use.

  1. Dial an access number from your usual phone which connects you to the over-ride provider’s network.
  2.
  3. Listen to a confirmation message, then dial your destination number.

The over-ride telecom providers are split into two groups – those that require you to open an account prior to using their service, and those that do not, they invoice you through your existing phone bill.

Non-account Over-ride Telecom Providers

For non-account providers, simply look up their access numbers on their website and use them to start making cheap phone calls. These companies will have a deal with the main telecommunications provider in your country, and the cost of these calls will appear on your regular telephone bill.

You pay for the call to connect to the over-ride network, but this is either the cost of a local call or a small fixed fee; you pay this fee to your existing telecom provider (such as BT in the UK). Once you are connected to the over-ride network, you pay the over-ride provider’s cheap rates for your international or national call.

You need to dial different access numbers for different countries, and calls are charged from the moment you’re connected, so, you will pay even if the person at the other end doesn’t answer. However, this system is very easy to use and there’s no commitment or contract, you simply change if you find a cheaper service, and you will save a significant amount of money on your phone calls.

Telediscount is an example of a non-account over-ride provider that operates in the UK, and it’s extremely popular because of the very cheap rates it offers for dialling overseas from within the UK.

Paying the Telecom Provider on Account

The other type of over-ride service is when you first need to set up an account. You can do this either online or by telephone (this depends on the particular company).

Once your account is active, you again dial an access number before your destination number. The main difference is that you dial the same access number whichever country you’re calling and the initial connection to the over-ride provider’s network is usually free. So, once you’ve set up your account, this type of service is much easier to use with only one access number to remember.

Depending on the over-ride company, you may need to add credit to your account before you can call, or you will receive a phone bill.

DialSimple is an over-ride telecom service available to people calling from within the USA, and they offer very cheap international phone calls – you need to set up an account before using this service.

Wherever you live, you should be able to find an over-ride telecom provider in your country and save significant amounts of money by making cheap international landline calls and cheap mobile (cell) calls. Search GetDialing.com to find the best telecom service for you.
