Nimbuzz is a call and messaging app that give free calls and messaging between Nimbuzz users, and the app works on most mobile platforms – iPhone, Android etc, and that includes the Blackberry. You can also make very cheap calls to landlines and non-Nimbuzz mobile users using NimbuzzOut.

The Nimbuzz mobile app uses the internet and works between any internet enabled device – mobile to mobile or between mobile and computer. It’s PC and Mac compatible. It uses Wi-Fi, 3G, 2G and GPRS. Basically, it works on anything that has an internet connection.

free phone2phone is a free call service available in the United States for making free long distance and free international phone calls. Make 5 minute calls to over 50 countries absolutely free of charge.

free phone2phone give local phone numbers on their website for US areas. When you dial the free phone2phone local access number you will be charged for a local call by your normal provider, but only for the short duration that it takes to connect your call to the free phone2phone network. After that the remainder of your call is free.

Once you have dialled the local access number you will hear one or two adverts – this is how free phone2phone is able to give you free phone calls. The adverts last for approximately 12 seconds, and afterwards you dial your destination number. You can call to other US numbers and to over 50 other countries (see the free phone2phone website for the up-to-date list of countries you can call).

The Tru App is a mobile voip application that lets you call other Tru users, GoogleTalk and Skype users for free and it gives cheap international call rates, and when abroad you can avoid expensive roaming charges by accessing a wi-fi network. The software works worldwide, whatever country you’re in and is compatible with Android, Nokia, Blackberry, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

You can save money by making cheap international calls to landlines and mobiles, and if you don’t have access to a wi-fi network, you can still save on international calls as Tru will route the international part of your call over the internet – you pay for the local part of your call and a low cost rate for the international part. They also have Tru – a SIM card giving cheap calls and no roaming in supported countries. There is the usual voip application for computers too.

Nonoh is a VoIP service provider that offers cheap voip rates to most countries as well as free calls to landline phones in certain countries. You have to buy credit in order to dial the free countries, but you do get 60 free minutes to trial the service.

Currently the free countries include the United States, Taiwan, South Korea, Venezuela, Ireland, Finland and Puerto Rico (these do tend to change). This service is very comprehensive with most countries accessible on their network.

RingPlus

RingPlus is a telecom service that offers free international phone calls because the calls are sponsored by adverts. You can call from a landline or cell phone by dialing an access number first, and can use the RingPlus service when dialing from within the US, Bellinzona and Lausanne in Switzerland, and Milan in Italy.

Apart from the cost of calling the RingPlus access number (depends on your standard telecom company’s charges), the remainder of your international call will be completely free. A full list of access numbers are published on the RingPlus website. This service is for non-commercial use only.
