Spikko is a VoIP service that lets you call other VoIP phones and also phone landlines and mobile phones for free. You must register and download the software (which is only Windows XP or Vista compatible), then you get a personal Israeli phone number and can receive and make free phone calls. In order to do this you have to accumulate minutes.
In order to generate free minutes for calling on Spikko you have to get other people to call your Spikko number. If you have lots of friends and family that’s great… For every minute that someone calls your Spikko number you will be given one free minute. If you have no calling minutes, you can send free sms to your friends via Spikko asking them to call you.

Globe7 is a VoIP application that lets you make free internet calls from your computer to other computers (with Globe7 also installed) and access cheap international call rates when phoning landlines and mobile (cell) phones. You have to register, download the software and purchase credit. You have to use Moneybookers in order to buy credit or send money to Globe7 through a wire transfer (which does seem a bit long-winded in these days of online purchasing).
Globe7 do boast the world’s lowest call rates, but I’m afraid this is a little bit of an exaggeration, as comparing a call from the UK to Australia (Adelaide) they are beaten marginally on price by 18185.co.uk (although you can only use 18185 if you live in the UK).

PhoneGnome is a VoIP application, so you can use it like any other VoIP service - download the PhoneGnome Voip software to your computer (Windows only compatible) and you can make free calls to other PhoneGnome users and access cheaper calls to landlines and mobiles. However, their best service seems to be the PhoneGnome Box which lets you make VoIP calls from your regular land line phone and it’s available for many countries, just order online.
The PhoneGnome Box
The PhoneGnome Box costs $99 and simply plugs into your existing system between your wall plug and your phone, and it works with cable and other VoIP services (including Skype) that you may have. It’s as simple as that, there is no software to install and no need to tell your existing phone supplier.
