Friendcaller is a browser based system for making voip calls, which means there is no software to download, simply call directly from your browser page. The system is a Java applet which works on all platforms and you can call all countries. There is also a software download called FriendCaller 3 Pro for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The fact that you can use FriendCaller from your browser means that you can use it anywhere on any computer so long as you have internet access, and you can call mobiles and landlines.

The Tru App is a mobile voip application that lets you call other Tru users, GoogleTalk and Skype users for free and it gives cheap international call rates, and when abroad you can avoid expensive roaming charges by accessing a wi-fi network. The software works worldwide, whatever country you’re in and is compatible with Android, Nokia, Blackberry, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
You can save money by making cheap international calls to landlines and mobiles, and if you don’t have access to a wi-fi network, you can still save on international calls as Tru will route the international part of your call over the internet – you pay for the local part of your call and a low cost rate for the international part. They also have Tru – a SIM card giving cheap calls and no roaming in supported countries. There is the usual voip application for computers too.

Localphone give cheap international calls from landlines and mobiles worldwide. You are allocated a local number for every person you call which can be stored in your phone making dialling very easy. Rates are very competitive, and popular destinations include India, Pakistan, Australia, UK, US, China and UAE.
Open an account online to use the service and register the phone numbers you will be calling from. Once this has been done, you need to enter the country and phone number you’re calling from and the destination country and phone number. Fring allows you to put all your friends from different social networks in one friends’ list. You can then see quickly who’s online and contactable. Jumblo is a voip system that offers cheap phone rates internationally and for certain countries you can call landline phones free of charge. There are various ways of using the service but the two main ones are to either download their voip software and call from your PC, or enter both phone numbers (your own and the destination number) into their website, Jumblo will then call your phone and connect you.
In order to sign up and create an account (whichever way you want to use the service) you first need to download the software. Their rates are very competitive, particularly when using their online ‘Soft Phone’ method rather than access numbers. Clear and easy-to-use website and you can purchase virtual calling cards from as little as $5.
You need to create an account to use the service but this gives you access numbers in many countries and the use of the Pingo SoftPhone service, where you initiate your call online from any phone you choose. On the Pingo website, choose the country you’re dialing from followed by the country you want to call, and you are given call rates for landline and mobile phones, including the rates for different networks in the destination country.
