Use This Service To Call: Internationally
0044 is a UK phone service giving cheaper phone calls within the UK and when calling overseas, and operates with mobile calls, landline calls and internet calls. Among other things, they offer SIM cards for various countries, including France, Germany, Spain, UK, New Zealand and the USA as well as a global SIM card.
When you know which country you are going to be travelling to, you simply purchase a SIM card for that country and you will not pay roaming charges, and have a set price for calls within your nominated country. You can buy a pay-as-you-go SIM card or SIM with a monthly fee. If you travel a lot to various countries, the global SIM is the best option.
In order to change the SIM card in your phone you need an unlocked mobile, but most mobiles are easy and cheep to unlock.
UK cheaper phone calls
Within the UK you have two options for mobile phones – to buy a SIM card which gives mobile call plans within the UK, as well as free roaming throughout Europe; or a UK only SIM. The UK only SIMs offer the usual deals with all the different mobile phone providers.
Dialling from the UK you can also save money on international landline calls by using the 0044 access number, and in some cases access free international calls. Just dial 1664 before the phone number.
Overseas SIM cards
0044 have dedicated SIM cards for 19 countries, plus a global SIM card. So, if you travel a lot, or there is no SIM card for the country you are travelling to, you can still save money by purchasing the global SIM card.
For all supported countries you can buy a SIM card to access cheaper mobile phone calls and avoid roaming charges; and you can also purchase a landline calling pack. The 0044 website give full, easy-to-follow information on all call charges and any monthly fees.
0044 Voip
This service is due to be launched soon and will allow you to make free voip calls between 0044 users. That’s not just free voip calls from your computer, but from your mobile phone and landline too. Using the voip service you will also be able to make calls to landlines and mobiles which will be routed over the internet and charged at 0044’s cheaper rates.
There is a free basic plan and an Extra plan costing £2.50 per month. The Extra plan includes cheaper calls to landlines worldwide and 100 free minutes to UK landlines every month.
