It’s a pre-paid service with no contract to sign, and the phone can be delivered to your destination before you arrive.
This service means that you will pay local rates for your calls in the UK, and you have unlimited internet and Skype calls in the UK with all Smartphone rentals. fonmigo estimate that they can save you 80% on your international roaming and data charges.
How Does fonmigo Work?
Order your phone or mobile internet device online at the fonmigo website or by calling +44 (0)808 204 0342 before you travel. The device can then be delivered to where you will be staying in the UK, whether it’s a hotel, office or residential address. There is a last minute fast delivery service for people already in the UK too.
All the phones / devices are ready to go, being fully charged, with a SIM card and with your pre-paid credit active. The phones are serviced by the 3 network, and you can check 3’s coverage in the UK on the fonmigo website to make sure the area where you will be staying is covered. However, 3 is the UK’s largest mobile network and cover 98% of the UK.
If you need to add credit, you can do this directly using your rented phone, and fonmigo have a 24 hours, 7 day a week customer service.
fonmigo Products
fonmigo offer two services: rental of a Smartphone and rental of a wireless modem.
fonmigo Smartphones
The Smartphone that they rent is an INQ 3G. As usual with Smartphones, as well as the phone service you have email access (push email) and access to services such as Facebook, Twitter, Skype and Google Maps. The INQ 3G has a 3.2mp camera.
You also get:
- Unlimited internet, 100 free texts, and 25 free minutes
- Free Skype to Skype calls
- Local fonmigo services, which include a mobile UK guide, city and metro maps, useful local contacts and a concierge service.
Note: the free internet, minutes, SMS, and Skype to Skype calls are only valid in the UK.
fonmigo Wi-Fi Anywhere in the UK
The fonmigo wireless modem connects devices such as a wi-fi enabled phone, computer, laptop, iPhone, iPod Touch, etc, to 3G internet which has a 98% coverage in the UK.
There is no installation or cables and it can connect up to 5 devices at once. It comes with 1GB of data included and you can purchase additional data if and when required.
It’s an ideal solution whether you’re based in one place or travelling around the UK.
Rental Prices
The rental prices are set over four time periods: 1 - 7 days, 8 - 14 days, 15 - 21 days and 22-31 days.
There are nice little charts on the fonmigo website showing the comparative costs of renting a fonmigo smartphone with the costs of roaming rates with other companies, and for their mobile wi-fi data plans too.
You can pay in Pounds Sterling, Euros or US dollars.
Returning your fonmigo device
At the end of your UK stay you simply return the phone or wi-fi modem in the pre-paid envelope that was supplied with your pack. On return of the device all personal information and data is erased to ensure your privacy.
