A VoIP service – download the software to your Mac or PC and you can call other Gismo5 users for free with cheap landline and mobile phone calls. There is also a Gizmo5 Mobile application that you can download direct to your mobile phone.

If you participate in the ‘All Calls’ plan you can make calls to landline and mobile phones in over 60 countries. If you are a new user to this plan you will get 20 minutes worth of free calls if you get a friend to also subscribe. However, you have to make one Gizmo5 call per week to another Gizmo5 user in order to keep your free minutes.

Free calls to landlines with Gizmo5

If you meet the ‘Active User Requirements’, you will receive up to 20 minutes of free calls per week. The Active User Requirements are: free calls to users if each others phone numbers are in both of your contact lists, you are calling from one of the Gizmo qualified countries (there is a list on the Gizmo website). You have to make frequent PC to PC calls, download the Gizmo5 for mobile application and log in to this application at least every 2 days, or make an online purchase periodically. That’s quite a lot of stuff you need to make sure happens!

You can buy a local number so that people can call you for the cost of a local number, and the software comes with a 2-way sms service and chat. Gizmo5 supports video calling and there is no connection fee.

Gizmo Call

Gizmo Call is part of the same company and is a browser based voip service. So there is no software to download. It’s free to call GimoCall and Gizmo5 users, 1-800 numbers or SIP devices and you can even call Skype users using a service called OpenSky. Calls to other numbers are charged at competitive voip rates – you must buy $10 of credit first.

Their OpenSky service not only lets you call Skype users from your browser via the Gizmo Call website, but it also enables you to call Skype users from a mobile phone, SIP device or Asterisk network. Calls from 1 to 5 minutes are free of charge, but for longer calls you need to buy OpenSky and for a single user that costs $20.
