netTALK.com provide free calls to the US and Canada and low cost international calls using a voip device that connects directly to your router and with a mobile phone app – and of course free calls to any other netTALK user worldwide. Only available in the United States.
Free mobile calls to the US and Canada
The mobile app is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad as well as Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile.
NetTalk.com route your free calls over their voip network so you don’t incur mobile minute charges. You can connect using wi-fi, 3G and EDGE. The free calls also include conference calling.
The app is free, and you need to open an account with NetTalk (also free). It doesn’t support incoming calls.
Note: The Blackberry app does not currently support CDMA devices and you must be running an OS version 4.6 to 5.9. OS v6.0 is NOT supported at the moment.
The netTALK Duo
There is a solution to not being able to receive incoming calls by buying the NetTalk Duo, which is a voip device that connects directly to your router – you don’t need to have a computer, although you can also connect the device to a computer.
The NetDuo costs $69.95 for the first year, then the cost is $29.95 per year. This device gives voip calls from your fixed line phone as well as your mobile phone.
The netTALK duo essentially means that you don’t need to have a traditional phone service, and it will save you money. The package includes low cost international calls and if you travel overseas, you can take your netTALK Due device with you (it’s pretty small at 2.7 inch x 1.5 inch x 0.9 inch and weighing only 1 lb) and make free calls to the US and Canada from overseas.
