Pigeon Voip is a voip service available in Deli and Mumbai to MTNL subscribers and gives very cheap international call rates to over 100 countries, and Pigeon Voip to Pigeon Voip calls are free up to 400 minutes every month. Countries you can dial include USA, UK and Australia. However, there is a registration fee and a monthly service charge.
Pigeon Voip state that the call quality of their service is high because the network is run by MTNL and BSNL (established telecom companies in India). You need to register to use the service and this comes with a one-off charge of RS 100. The software is free to download and what’s more, there are no bandwidth charges just a cheap calling rate charge for the length of the call. There is a RS 200 monthly charge to take into account though.
Once you have used up your 400 free minutes every month for dialing other Pideon Voip users you will be charged 20 paise a minute. Calls to international lines are charged at Re.1 a minute. However, to make international calls you need to first obtain pre-paid coupons and the minimum amount is 100 RS. Their website provides telepone numbers which you can ring to get these coupons.
The calls offered by Pigeon Voip are cheap, but there are a quite a lot of other charges involved with this service.
No computer necessary
If you are a MTNL customer you can use this service even if you don’t have a computer! Pigeon Voip provide you with a free Analog Telephone Adapter so that you can access the voip system from your standard phone.
