Cheap phone call providers...

TeleTop

• Use This Service To Call: Internationally.

TeleTop is a UK cheap call provider that you can use when dialing from landline or mobile phones. It’s free to call certain countries, such as Spain, but you do pay a connection fee and there is a charge to top-up. However, they offer very cheap rates (sometimes free) and there is no account to set up.

There are various charges you will incur when using this service. You need to dial a premium rate number (0911 033 2525) to purchase credit - this call will cost you £1.50. There is a connection fee of 5p for every call. Finally, you will pay a normal call rate (to BT for example) to dial the TeleTop network before accessing their cheap international call rates (but this is the case for most over-ride phone providers).

Despite these charges it will be worth using TeleTop to call certain countries. Many of their call rates are as little as 0.5p per minute to countries such as Brazil, Chile, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, the United States and many European countries. Check out the rate list on the TeleTop website to see if prices are competitive for the country you want to call.

The other thing to keep in mind is that your credit will only be valid for 90 days, after that it will expire and you’ll need to top up again. There is a top-up limit of £10.

Calls are rounded up to the nearest minute.

Free international phone calls

There are even several countries that you can call for free (except for the connection fee) such as: Hong Kong, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Singapore.

How to use TeleTop to access cheap call rates

Once you have added credit, dial the TeleTop access number: 0208 1802 802 followed by your international phone number to take advantage of the TeleTop cheap international call rates.

Use the phone that you want to make international calls from when you top up, because that is the only phone that you will be able to use the credit on.

If you’re with a telecom company other than BT and you find you’re being blocked when trying to access the TeleTop network, dial 1280 before the access number and this will bypass any block.

Registration Required? No, you don’t need to register to use this service.

You have to give the phone number and email address that you registered with teletop to proceed.

The rates that Teletop quote on their website are probably for calling from a landline phone. It looks like you were using a mobile phone to call India - 07577 ******. Rates are always higher when calling from a mobile phone, so this could explain why you have been charged more.
