Did you know that calling 0800 numbers in the UK from your mobile actually costs a lot of money? These numbers are free to call from landlines, but not from mobile phones.

There is now a mobile app that lets you call 0800, 0808 and 0500 numbers using your bundled contract minutes. Usually these number cost around 40 pence per minute. The app is called the 0800 Wizard, and it works on the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.

With this app installed, when you call one of these freephone numbers the app will automatically channel your call via an 01 or 02 number. Your call reaches the same destination, but costs you the same as a normal mobile call, and if you have inclusive minutes that call will be free.
