Most of the links are to do with telecommunications, such as saving money on text messages by sending them from your PC for free (see TextMeFree.com below), but others are simply so good at saving you money that I’ve listed them anyway, whether they are to do with telecoms or not.

TextMeFree is a directory of free sms services, most of which you use from your PC to send free text messages to mobile phones. The site lists services available worldwide, and you need to search for a free service by the country that you want to send an sms to. There are currently 253 free sms listed. Every site is reviewed and there are also ratings and comments left by users which help you choose the best service. www.textmefree.com

SayNoTo0870.com
This is a website for the UK, and it allows you to search for replacement telephone numbers for the expensive 0870 numbers that many companies now provide as their contact phone number.  The site also give replacements for 0500, 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0871 numbers. Enter the company name into their search box and hopefully you will find alternative geographical phone numbers to use instead. www.saynoto0870.com

Free Forwarding Telephone Numbers from Open Telecom
Open Telecom provide many services, but one of their best is a free 0870 number that you can have re-directed to any other phone number, including international numbers. There is not cost to you, and the person dialing your 0870 number will only pay the cost of a national call (BT rates) even if the 0870 number forwards to a number abroad. Using one of these numbers also means that if your business or you move, you keep the same telephone number, you just change the re-direct. Be sure to tell people that they will be billed the cost of a national call when they use the 0870, because many 0870 numbers are premium rated. Free Fax to Email
FreeFaxToEmail.com offer just that – a completely free service where you can receive faxes into your email box. When you sign up you are given a free fax number and your account is active immediately. 250 Free Business Cards
Vistaprint have a very good offer of 250 free business cards. You can choose from many templates, all very stylishly designed; you can add all your personal info online at their website; see the card develop in real time, and then view a proof before signing off your business cards for printing. Because the cards are free, you must have a very small VistaPrint logo and web address on the reverse side, but all you will pay for is the delivery cost. Check out their free business card designs.
